4 students of Sonoma Swim School display their Blue Ribbons.

Pink Ribbon, age 3½-5. Swimmers must not cry or ask for parents for 3 consecutive days.
Green Ribbon, age 4-6. Swimmers must torpedo with a "rocket kick" the width of pool. Jump in deep end & swim to instructor.
Blue Ribbon, age 4 & up. Swimmers must torpedo the length of pool taking relaxed "bites of air". Jump in deep end & torpedo across the width of pool. Climb out of pool unassisted.

Red Ribbon, age 4 & up. Swimmers must swim length using straight arms & relaxed bites of air. Kick a length on their back using fins. Surface dive to retrieve ring from bottom.
White Ribbon, age 4 & up. Swimmers must swim length of pool freestyle using rocket kicks, straight arms & proper side breathing. Kick length on back - no fins. Dive from side & swim width underwater.
Purple Ribbon, age 4 & up. Swimmers must swim length backstroke. Kick length using the dolphin kick with fins. Tread water for 1 minute.

Orange Ribbon, age 5 & up. Swimmers must swim length breastroke or butterfly, swimming 3 out of 4 strokes correctly.
∗Gold Ribbon, age 5 & up. Swimmers must legally swim all four strokes in "I.M. order" from a dive. Rescue an adult from the deep end.
